Indian English’s well-known novelist and sociologist, Mrs Rama Mehta (1923-1978) was born in Lucknow. After graduating from I.T.College, Lucknow, he obtained MA degree in Philosophy from Delhi, Michigan and Columbia universities respectively. And specialized education in psychology and sociology. In 1949 he was elected for foreign service. This honor was received by the first few women of India. After being freed, he traveled extensively in India and abroad. Many of his articles were also published in prestigious papers. Mrs. Mehta was a member of the Radcliffe Harvard Institute of America and also gave lectures in Solarbon and Athens.


‘Inside the Haveli’ received the Sahitya Akademi Award of the year 1979 in Indian English Literature. His other works are ‘Rama’ (novel) and ‘Life of Keshav’. He also wrote sociological texts on problems related to Indian women.



‘Haveli Inside’ is a Hindi translation of the award-winning novel Inside the Mansion. In this, the intimate story of the well-known Haveli of Sajjangarh principality located in Udaipur has been very authentic. In this, the confrontation and interference of four-four generations has been engraved with great difficulty and pain and pleasure of the feudal values ​​and progressive values.
