Class 10th Science 12 Electricity Part 2

Q. when electron move?

the electron move only if there is a difference of electric pressure called the potential difference along the conductor.

Q. what is potential difference?

we define the electric potential difference between two point in an electric circuit carring some current at the work is done to move a unit charge from one point to the other :-

 potintial difference (V) between the two point = work done (W) / charges (Q)

                                                                                V  =   W/ Q

S.I. unit of electric potential difference is volt(V) , named after Alessandro volta (1745-1827), an Italian Physicist.

Q. Define 1 volt?

1 volt is the potential difference bitween two point in a conductor carring current when 1 joule of work is done to move a charge of 1 coulomb from one point of the order :-                                          1 volt = 1 Joule / 1 Coulomb         or      1 V = 1 JC-1

Potential difference is mesured by voltmeter.

The voltmeter is always connected in parallel across the point.

V / I is the constsnt ratio
