Greek independence war

Greece was a part of the Ottoman Empire from the 15th century. The struggle for independence of the Greeks started in 1821 with the progress of revolutionary nationalism in Europe. Nationalists in Greece also received support from many people in Western Europe along with the Greeks living in exile who were sympathetic to the ancient Greek culture. Poets and artists praised Greece as the cradle of European civilization and gathered people together for the struggle of Greece against a Muslim empire. The British poet Lord Byron collected money and later went to fight the war. Where he died of fever in 1824 AD. Finally, the Treaty of Kustuntunia in 1832 AD recognized Greece as an independent nation.
