Earth Summit Short Note By Nisha Kumari

Earth Summit was held in June 1992 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. In this Summit 100 heads of the states participated. It was the first international Summit. This summit is known as ‘Rio de Janeiro Summit’ or ‘Earth Summit’. The main goal of this Summit was Environment protection and socio-economic development at global level. By this Summit we got ‘agenda 21’ for sustainable development.

पृथ्वी शिखर सम्मेलन जून 1992 में ब्राजील के रियो डी जनेरियो में आयोजित किया गया था। इस समिट में 100 राष्ट्राध्यक्षों ने भाग लिया। यह पहला अंतरराष्ट्रीय शिखर सम्मेलन था। इस शिखर सम्मेलन को ‘रियो डी जनेरियो शिखर सम्मेलन’ या ‘पृथ्वी शिखर सम्मेलन’ के रूप में जाना जाता है। इस शिखर सम्मेलन का मुख्य लक्ष्य वैश्विक स्तर पर पर्यावरण संरक्षण और सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास था। इस शिखर सम्मेलन से हमें सतत विकास के लिए ‘एजेंडा 21’ मिला।
