Suffrage Class 10 SSt
Still not every citizen got the right to vote in France.
In the last phase of the revolution, only such men were given the right to vote who had property.
The suffrage was granted to every adult male for a brief period during the Jacobin Club era.
But the Napoleonic Code again restored the old system in which only a limited number of people had the right to vote.
During Napoleon’s rule, women were treated as minors, due to which they were under the control of their father or husband.
The struggle for women’s and propertyless men’s suffrage continued throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
