🍃 Wind – Explanation
Stanza 1
Line 1: Wind, come softly.
👉 कवि हवा से कहता है – हवा धीरे-धीरे (softly = धीरे से) आओ।
Line 2: Don’t break the shutters of the windows.
👉 खिड़कियों के पट (shutters) मत तोड़ो (break)।
Line 3: Don’t scatter the papers.
👉 कागज (papers) इधर-उधर मत बिखेरो (scatter = फैलाना/बिखेरना)।
Line 4: Don’t throw down the books on the shelf.
👉 अलमारी (shelf) में रखी किताबें मत गिराओ (throw down = नीचे गिराना)।
Stanza 2
Line 5: There, look what you did — you threw them all down.
👉 देखो (look), तुमने क्या किया – तुमने सारी किताबें गिरा दीं (threw down)।
Line 6: You tore the pages of the books.
👉 तुमने किताबों के पन्ने फाड़ (tore) दिए।
Line 7: You brought rain again.
👉 तुमने फिर से बारिश (rain) ले आए।
Line 8: You’re very clever at poking fun at weaklings.
👉 तुम बहुत चालाक (clever) हो कमजोरों (weaklings = कमजोर लोग) का मज़ाक उड़ाने (poking fun) में।
Stanza 3
Line 9: Frail crumbling houses, crumbling doors, crumbling rafters,
👉 कमजोर (frail) टूटते हुए (crumbling = बिखरना/टूटना) घर, दरवाजे और छत की बल्लियाँ।
Line 10: crumbling wood, crumbling bodies, crumbling lives,
👉 टूटती हुई लकड़ियाँ, कमजोर शरीर (bodies), बिखरते जीवन (lives)।

Line 13: He won’t do what you tell him.
👉 हवा वही नहीं करती जो तुम उससे कहो।
Line 14: So, come, let’s build strong homes,
👉 इसलिए आओ, हम मज़बूत घर (strong homes) बनाएँ।
Line 15: Let’s joint the doors firmly.
👉 दरवाज़ों को मज़बूती से (firmly) जोड़ दें।
Line 16: Practise to firm the body.
👉 शरीर को मज़बूत (firm) बनाने का अभ्यास करें।
Line 17: Make the heart steadfast.
👉 दिल को दृढ़ (steadfast = मज़बूत/अटल) बनाओ।
Line 18: Do this, and the wind will be friends with us.
👉 अगर हम यह सब करेंगे, तो हवा (wind) हमारी दोस्त (friend) बन जाएगी।
Stanza 5
Line 19: The wind blows out weak fires.
👉 हवा कमजोर (weak) आग को बुझा (blows out) देती है।
Line 20: He makes strong fires roar and flourish.
👉 लेकिन वह मज़बूत (strong) आग को और अधिक जलने (roar = गरजना/तेज़ जलना, flourish = फैलना/समृद्ध होना) में मदद करती है।
Line 21: His friendship is good.
👉 उसकी दोस्ती (friendship) अच्छी है।
Line 22: We praise him every day.
👉 हम उसे रोज़ (every day) सराहते (praise) हैं।
