Explain fission method of asexual reproduction

Fission is a method of asexual reproduction found in a single celled organism. In this method of asexual reproduction, a fully developed unicellular organism is divided into two parts. This process of fission does not happen all at once, in which the nucleus is first divided and then the cytoplasm is divided. Example – Amoeba and Paramecium.

In this method two organisms are formed from one cell, hence this method is also called as bifission method.

The process of fission occurs differently in all organisms. For example, in amoeba cell division can take place in any plane, but in Lesmania fragmentation takes place in a fixed plane.
